DETAILED EVENT AND TRIP OVERVIEWS WITH ROUTE INFORMATION AND LINKS
ROLLINS PASS (STARTING IN NEDERLAND)
JULY 26-27
We’re heading high this month for a chill overnighter up Rollins Pass—a historic railroad route that climbs above treeline for massive views, a touch of alpine air, and a mellow night out. This is a great ride if you’ve done a few trips already and are ready to add some elevation and exposure to your bikepacking palette.
We'll meet Saturday at noon in Nederland at the Ned General Store and ride up the chunky Rollins Pass Road (also known as the Moffat Road) for about 20-25 miles depending on the final camp spot. Expect a steady but gradual climb with plenty of opportunities to pause, snack, and take in the scenery. The top rewards us with big views and (hopefully) a quiet camp above 10,000 feet.
Ideal bike: Hardtail MTB, possible on a gravel bike with some hike a bike
Approximate distance: 50-70 miles (depending on finish location)
BIKEPACKING ROOTS MOUNTAIN WEST SUMMIT
DATES: SEPTEMBER 12-15
For September, we'll be helping out/hanging out at the Bikepacking Roots Mountain West Summit which will be held at Rustic Creek Ranch in the heart of the Buffalo Creek Recreation area. This event will bring together bikepackers from all over the region (100-150 people) to celebrate everything bikepacking including speakers, clinics, day-rides and overnight trips from base camp.
More details to come, but put this one on the calendar!
GOLD CAMP ROAD TO VICTOR
DATES: OCTOBER 3-4
For October, we'll be rolling the dice and heading up Gold Camp Road to a private camp ground in Victor, CO. We'll start in Colorado Springs and head of the famed Gold Camp Road to camp by a lake in a private camp ground. We'll turn it back around the next morning and hit some singletrack on the way back down to COS (feel free to take the road all the way down).
Ideal bike: Hardtail MTB for maximum fun, a gravel bike will work if you skip the singletrack
Approximate distance: 65-75 miles
